Histopathological Assessment In Pulmonary Hypertension
Dr. Zülküf KARAHANa, Dr. Nizamettin TOPRAKa
aKardiyoloji ABD, Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, DİYARBAKIR Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) has a multifactorial pathobiology. Vasoconstriction, remodeling of the pulmonary vessel wall, and thrombosis contribute to increased pulmonary vascular resistance in PHT. PHT includes various forms of pulmonary hypertension of different etiology but similar clinical presentation and functional derangement. Histopathological vascular changes in all forms of PHT are qualitatively similar but with quantitative differences in the distribution and prevalence of pathological changes in various portions of the pulmonary vascular bed. The documentation of these topographic variations in the response of the pulmonary vasculature to injury may be important to understand the pathogenesis of the various subsets of PHT.Keywords: Hypertension, pulmonary; pulmonary circulationTurkiye Klinikleri J Int Med Sci 2007, 3(49) (S):68-72
